Video-Voicemail Patent for Smart Phones to be Sold by Osann IP Consulting at ICAP Fall 2011 Live IP Auction

Saturday, December 31st, 2011

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) October 24, 2011

Osann IP Consulting today announced the auction of a patent portfolio for smart phone video messaging at the ICAP Patent Brokerage Fall 2011 Live IP Auction on November 17th in San Francisco.

Video calls now exist, and features like Skype’s “video snapshot” enable still images to be combined with a video call. US Reissue Patent No RE42210 describes such combined calls including saving them in the manner of voicemails today. The acquisition of Skype by Microsoft raises the probability that video-voicemails according to this invention will be available on smart phones in the future.

In addition to storing video-voicemails, realtime video-voice conversations are optionally recorded for later retrieval in order to document a conversation or because a party in the conversation is not able to view the images in realtime. While the sending party will normally use a conventional smart-phone with digital camera, the receiving party may view video-voicemail images on smart phones or a variety of devices with high-resolution displays including a conventional PC/Laptop/Tablet connected to the Internet providing a 10x higher resolution experience.

For friends and family, the Video-Voicemail paradigm provides an easy way to communicate image and video information while maintaining a communication paradigm that is familiar, basically that of phone calls and voicemails. While shopping, a person might call a friend or family member to show videos and images of items they are considering, while the receiving party views the information for comment and approval.

Mobile phone communication among workgroups is used by most businesses that require frequent communications among individuals at different locations in a local area – for the most part, businesses in the construction industry. Video-Voicemail enables a manager, foreman, or responsible person to better track the progress at a variety of locations and effect swift problem resolution or avoidance. The ability of a foreman to view or anticipate problem areas – using this IP – adds tremendous value.

Entitled Video-Voicemail Solution for Wireless Communication Devices, the original application was filed on March 22, 2002 and initially issued in 2006 as US Patent No 7,092,735. A reissue application was filed in 2008 and issued with broader claims on March 8, 2011 as Re-issue Pat No RE42210. Pending Re-issue Continuation Application No 13/018,314 is included in the auction lot with claims focused on communication paths and display resolutions, covering scenarios currently emerging in the video messaging arena.

The Video-Voicemail IP lot should be of interest to Mobile Service Providers, Smart Phone Manufacturers, and Software Companies providing platforms for mobile communications. Forward citations for this lot include: Sony, LG Electronics, NEC Electronics, and Sprint Nextel. Free Government Cell Phones 4 U Helps People Get Information on Free Cell Phone Services

Friday, December 2nd, 2011

(PRWEB) December 01, 2011

For most people, having a cell phone is more than a luxuryit is a necessity. Anyone who has ever been stuck at the side of the road with a flat tire knows how important it is to be able to call for help when needed. In addition, parents and their kids rely on cell phones to keep in touch with each other throughout the day, as do bosses and their employees.

Unfortunately, cell phone service is not always cheap, and for many people, having one or more phones can take a pretty good bite out of the monthly budget. As a result, many people have had to give up their cell phones, leaving them without a way to call for help when needed.

A website has gotten a lot of attention lately for its comprehensive reviews and information on free government cell phones. Free Government Cell Phones 4 U was founded in mid-2011, and is already developed a well-deserved reputation as an outstanding source for people to learn about how to obtain free government phones, read reviews and find the best cell phone providers to work with.

These free government cell phones may sound too good to be true, but they are the real deal, an article on the website explained, adding that over 8 million Americans in close to 40 states are enrolled in free government cell phone programs.

Those who qualify for the free government phones will not be charged connection fees, have to sign an annual contract, make a deposit, or pay monthly service fees for the cell phone. As the website explained, the only requirement is that people must comply with the annual certification requirement for ongoing service.

Using the website is easy; simply log onto the home page and begin browsing through the vast array of information and reviews.

The United States government has partnered with numerous companies to provide the free service and distribute the cell phones to qualifying customers. For example, Assurance Wireless, managed by Virgin Mobile, is the fastest-growing free government phone provider.

Another company that provides this service is Reachout Wireless, part of Nexus Communications. Although it is only operating in a few states, they are quickly expanding their program.

Safelink Wireless is the oldest and largest free government cell phone carrier in the United Sates. It offers up to 250 free local and domestic long distance minutes each month to eligible people.

About Free Government Cell Phones 4 U:

Free Government Cell Phones 4 U was founded in the second half of 2011, and has quickly become a leading authority on the Lifeline Assistance program and free government cell phones. The website also features reviews of the different programs and providers to do business with. For more information, please visit http://www.freegovernmentcellphones4u.com

Report Shows 58% of Mobile Transactions Came From Android Phones on Cyber Monday and Black Friday

Friday, December 2nd, 2011

San Jose, CA (PRWEB) December 01, 2011

ThreatMetrix, the fastest growing provider of cloud-based fraud prevention solutions that do not require personally identifiable information (PII), today released data on mobile transaction volume that took place during the 2011 Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping days.

Findings showed the vast majority of mobile transactions were processed on an Android-powered device (58%) on both days. iPhone came in second, generating 32% of mobile device transactions on Black Friday and 30% of mobile transactions on Cyber Monday; the remaining transactions were split between Palm, Windows, BlackBerry and others.

This years Cyber Monday boasted a 10.6% increase in mobile transactions over the 2011 Black Friday. In total, ThreatMetrix found that mobile transactions were up an impressive 591% year-over-year during the holiday shopping season.

The increase in total mobile purchasing may be attributed to Android and Windows offering a larger product line with features that are now comparable to the interface of the iPhone, said Alisdair Faulkner, chief products officer, ThreatMetrix. One differentiating factor in mobile purchases versus other forms of purchasing is the propensity for them to be intention-driven. Rather than using mobile devices to comparison shop, people who perform mobile transactions often know what theyre going to buy, thus increasing conversion rates.

Transaction Trends by Day and Channel

ThreatMetrix also monitored mobile and desktop transactions by day, from October 30 through November 28, as well as by time on Cyber Monday. Compared to the beginning of the month, daily volume of mobile-based transactions doubled leading up to Cyber Monday.

Mobile transactions can often be a factor of convenience, as we saw the majority of Cyber Monday purchases via this channel happened after the work day ended and consumers were likely in commute, said Faulkner.

Volume of Mobile Transactions Year-Over-Year

Over the past year, there has been a 50% increase in transactions that originated from a mobile device as a percentage of total web and mobile transactions combined; from 2% in 2010 to 3% of total purchases in 2011. While iPhones share of mobile transactions decreased by 35%, Windows increased by 19% and Android mobile volume increased by 661%.

Faulkner added that retailers should be aware of the five primary fraud threats this holiday season, especially with the mobile channel becoming more popular: mobile device spoofing, use of botnets and malware, cookie-wiping, IP address cloaking, and the use of virtual private networks (VPNs). For more information on these fraud threats and how to protect against fraudsters please see ThreatMetrixs videos: The Mobile Fraud Threat, Malware and Mobile: How Big of a Threat Is It? and Top Three Tactics to Consider for Mobile Fraud Prevention.

About the ThreatMetrix Data

All data compiled for this report was based on ThreatMetrix, Inc. transaction data for 500 of the largest online merchants participating in the ThreatMetrix Cloud-Based Fraud Prevention Platform.

San Fransisco, CA (PRWEB) June 11, 2011

One great disadvantage with the phones at PhonesOverstock.com that are custom built for the mobile operators or provided by the mobile operators themselves is the fact that most of them lack key features and are inferior in quality.

However, there are mobile operators like Sprint who stand as an exception by launching mobile phones that are very unique and path breaking. From the LG Optimus that can be bought for free online to the Google Nexus 4 they have launched recently, the Sprint phones are very advanced and are high quality.

Android Tablet PC Wholesale Category Launched By China Phones Online Shop, Chinavasion

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

Shenzhen, Guangdong (PRWEB) June 15, 2011

IPad-like tablets from China have experienced rapid sales growth in 2011, but there are more and better Android Tablet PC devices just over the horizon, according to market-leading B2B wholesaler, Chinavasion.

Says Chinavasion Public Relations spokesperson, Rose Li:

“Retailers all over the world are looking for good quality Android Tablet PCs and Smartphones to sell: the demand is huge, and China manufacturers are innovating to meet that demand.”

Apple boss Steve Jobs launched the iPad 2 earlier in 2011 with a prediction that it would be a “year of the copycats” for tablets. Recent Android Tablet PC launches from big brands like Motorola and Samsung have focused on software apps and hardware specifications rather than attempting changes to Apple’s winning tablet form factor. Last month, Apple filed a lawsuit claiming Samsung had copied their ‘technology, user interface and innovative style’ on Android Smartphones.

Noting that Apple’s iPad products have been more than just an inspiration to manufacturers in China, Chinavasion’s Rose Li commented:

“Definitely a lot of Android Tablet designs are just unimaginative copies of mainstream brand products. It’s par for the course in China at early stages of a product market. At Chinavasion we’ve been at pains to make sure we are only sourcing original designs of Android Tablet PC to add to our warehouse stock.”

Ecommerce platforms such as eBay and Amazon have strict policies restricting what type of no-brand Android Mobile Phones and Tablets online sellers can advertise. Chinavasion’s product policy notes that it aims only to sell original designs of smartphones and other gadgets that will not put sellers and importers at risk of bans or bad customer feedback.

Gadget blogs and magazines have focused frequently on battery and display problems with cheap Android devices from unscrupulous Chinese retailers. Chinavasion’s Rose Li commented on the firm’s efforts to guarantee product quality in relation to the latest Tablet PC Android range:

“We’ve seen maybe over 100 different Android Tablet PC designs offered to us in the last few months. Only five so far have made it through our rigorous standards for build quality, reliability, and usability: and those exciting new tablets are such great, innovative devices” says Li. “By launching a product category focused on wholesale Android tablets and smartphones, we are investing resources to make sure that sellers worldwide can access the best Android products that are available out of China.”

Chinavasion’s announcement noted that they will be aiming to source more Android Phones as well as a range of new Android Tablet PC products, available to registered wholesale buyers from the online shop category at http://www.chinavasion.com/android/
