Picture It Settled Launches Lite Version for iPhones and iPads

Friday, December 9th, 2011

San Antonio, TX (PRWEB) November 30, 2011

Picture It Settled has developed enterprise software to help litigants analyze their positions and develop successful negotiation strategies. Using patent-pending algorithms and neural networks crawling over thousands of cases and settlement negotiations, the software suite helps negotiators do hard-headed case evaluations and plot successful negotiating strategies.

Some of that intelligence has been made available in a free app that was recently approved by the Apple Store. Picture It Settled Lite tracks the dollar moves in negotiation. But, perhaps more importantly, it also tracks the time interval between offers. The app then takes that offer history and extrapolates it out in both dollars and time to help the parties picture whether and when they might reach a deal. The actual offers are connected by solid lines and the extrapolations are connected by dotted lines.

The app also helps users calculate future offers based upon the concession rates of both parties. Users may want to match their last move in the next round. The app will make that calculation based on the prior dollar moves. If the user would rather calculate its next move based on its percentage move in the last round, the app will calculate that too.

Negotiators are often influenced by their opponents moves. They may want to match their opponents move in dollar or percentage terms. Its what negotiation theorists call tit-for-tat. The app offers pre-calculations that assist litigants choosing that course.

Importantly, the app graphs the effects of such moves on the likelihood of reaching settlement by testing whether the offer patterns on each side will lead to a deal the point at which the lines intersect on the graph.

Since most litigators manage multiple cases at once, the app will keep track of each one separately.

Early reviews have been positive:

“Perfect tool for busy professionals lawyers and litigants who need immediate, on-the-spot help in discovering whats going on in a settlement or contract negotiation. Infinitely better than scratching your head!” -

The Rocks Estate Creates Mobile Farm Tour using QR Codes

Saturday, December 3rd, 2011

Bethlehem, NH (PRWEB) November 30, 2011

When Nigel Manley, manager of The Rocks Estate, wanted to create a new tour of the historic property, he knew where to turn for help. Manley has been working with local Web guru Veronica Francis at Notchnet Web Services in Littleton, NH for more than five years to provide the best online services and information to Rocks Estate fans and potential visitors.

“We always try to keep things fresh, and our Mobile Tour is a fun new way to explore the farm, said Manley of the latest way to discover the 1,400-acre Christmas tree farm, which also serves as the North Country Conservation and Education Center of the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests. Veronica has been a great help in getting programs off the ground and inspiring me to keep looking at new opportunities in Internet marketing for the farm.

The new Rocks Mobile Tour uses Quick Response (QR) code technology. The codes, which look like squares of abstract black and white designs, are posted on signs at each of the 13 stops on the Mobile Tour. When visitors snap a photo of the codes with their smartphones, information from each Mobile Tour stop appears on the phones screen.

The Mobile Tour reveals interesting snippets from the propertys history and historic buildings, information on current wildlife habitat and forest management, and tree facts about the three types of Christmas trees growing on the farm.

Although his focus on growing Christmas trees, providing experiential tours for visitors in all seasons, and coordinating a variety of natural education programs keeps Manley busy, he strives to use the latest technology to share the beauty and rich history of The Rocks Estate. To that end, Manley maintains a Facebook page and a Rocks Estate Blog and works with one of his employees to develop regular and informative YouTube videos about the property.

In an information era where people rely increasingly on the Web to get information about everything from where to vacation to how to get there, having a grasp on the latest technology is paramount to successful marketing.

Its really not enough for most businesses to simply maintain a Website anymore, Francis said. With social media, smart phone technology, and all the ways people search for information its really important to have a dynamic online presence.

Notchnet was founded in 1999 by Francis and her husband Charles Flanders as a Web design and hosting company. In the years since, the company has evolved along with Web technology to offer Web marketing, E-commerce, mobile sites to work with smart phones and tablets, and social media training and support.

Francis and Manley worked together, along with Manleys daughter Linnea, to identify places of interest throughout the property, which was once the home to the well-heeled Glessner family. The QR Codes allow visitors to view images of the Estates original buildings and explain each featured buildings history and modern day use. The Mobile Tour also shares the staffs knowledge about different Christmas tree species and their attributes even when there are no Rocks employees nearby to answer questions.

Its a really fun and easy way for visitors to learn about The Rocks, whether theyre here to select a Christmas tree, visiting our Maple Experience museum, or just exploring our trail network, said Manley. History is very important to us at The Rocks, but we try to be a little bit cutting edge, too.

The Rocks Estate is the North Country Conservation and Education Center of the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests The Forest Society is a non-profit membership organization founded in 1901 to protect the states most important landscapes and promote wise use of its natural resources.

The landmark 1,400-acre Rocks Estate includes numerous buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places and offers Agri- and Eco-tourism opportunities throughout the year. For more information please visit http://www.therocks.org.

Affectiva Delivers Emotion Data in Real Time with Q Sensor 2.0

Monday, June 13th, 2011

Waltham, MA (PRWEB) December 01, 2011

MIT spin-off Affectiva, the leader in emotion measurement technologies, announced availability today of the Q Sensor 2.0, the next generation biosensor that measures physiological signs of people’s emotional states such as excitement and stress.

Targeted for researchers and cutting-edge practitioners in psychology, health and user experience, the Q 2.0 now includes Bluetooth capability that enables emotion data to be displayed in real-time as its collected.

The real-time display of unspoken emotional reactions allows researchers to make immediate adjustments to their protocols. A market researcher, for instance, can monitor focus group participants for strong yet silent reactions and encourage quiet participants to share their feedback. A therapist can use Q 2.0 to gauge the effectiveness of a patients in-session treatment for an anxiety disorder. A researcher building an interactive simulation can incorporate the real-time data from the Q Sensor to modify the simulation based on the wearers reaction.

In addition, the Bluetooth connectivity also enables developers to create tablet and smart phone applications that leverage the Q 2.0 emotion data. These applications automatically adapt to a persons excitement or engagement level based on the real-time feedback.

A Stanford University team is using the Q Sensor 2.0 to create games that offer new challenges to keep people engaged based on their arousal level. “We see this signal as a potential joystick into game play,” said Byron Reeves, a professor in the communications department at Stanford University.

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition recently showcased a Q Sensor 2.0 that sent an alert to a veteran’s smart phone when his stress signals exceeded a threshold. That way, the veteran was proactively alerted to make use of his custom-built quiet room.

The Q Sensor works by monitoring electrodermal activity (EDA), which is an electrical change in the skin that varies with activation of the sympathetic nervous system. The sensor also measures temperature and movement. Unlike traditional systems for research-grade EDA measurement, the Q Sensor is wireless and easy to set up, so it can be used in a variety of real life settings.

We brought research-quality EDA data together with the mobile, wearable features researchers love and real-time Bluetooth technology that opens up a whole new field of applications,” said Dave Berman, CEO of Affectiva. The Q Sensor 2.0 makes it easy to add a real-time emotion measurement dimension to your research and clinical practice.”

The Q Sensor 2.0, with software and warranty, lists for $ 2,000 with discounts available for bulk and educational use. To download software, view sample data or order sensors, visit http://www.affectiva.com/q-sensor/.

Remote Security and Access Control for Business Automation Customers

Wednesday, December 1st, 2010

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) December 01, 2011

Smith Monitoring announced today their latest foray into the security automation market. Connectivity and automation are on the cutting edge of commercially-available security technology, and Smiths Smart Home package delivers both, at a price set to make it ubiquitous in both homes and businesses.

With its advanced monitoring and automation features, the Smart Home system is primed for businesses looking to step up their protection with an unprecedented level of communication and depth of monitoring. The Go!Control panel is the center of the system, allowing the user to access its features and change settings from any web-enabled computer or smartphone with the dedicated app. The panel sends updates to the users cellphone and email, informing them of changes in the panels settings, and alerting them of any warnings from the sensors. The built-in GSM chip gives it a secure wireless connection to cellular towers, ensuring that even if phone lines are cut, the system still operates as desired. Further, its Z-Wave technology creates a local wireless network within its area, connecting the various available modules; because it operates inside its own network, it causes no interruption of internet service or disruption of phone signals.

Dedicated door locks bind to the network, allowing the administrator to set schedules for times during which the doors can be unlocked, or remotely unlock a door for a delivery. Both a fixed-lens and a pan/tilt camera are available from Smith. The cameras connect to the network, streaming live or recorded video that is accessible through the Go!Control panels protocols. A combination of the locks and cameras assures a well-secured and well-connected business, but there are more features available. Other modules include light/appliance controllers to manage appliance use or light fixtures even while away, a Smart Thermostat to remotely regulate temperatures or set a schedule to save energy and money, and a motion detector to set up in potential hazard areas. As a major player in the home security industry, Smith Monitoring provides the latest automation technology and comprehensive monitoring to its customers.

Smith Monitoring Inc. is headquartered in North Dallas and serves throughout Texas, Georgia, and California. Committed to giving back to the community that has given it success, Smith Monitoring has received the rank of A from the Better Business Bureau every year since its inception. Information about Smiths service, pricing, the refer-a-friend promotion, and more is available on the Smith Monitoring website.
