The BlackBerry Curve Review

Friday, July 2nd, 2010

The Blackberry Curve offers several new features that can make this phone a great investment. If you like thin mobile phones you will like the Blackberry Curve. But don’t be fooled by the thin design, it features a large screen so you won’t find your self struggling to read your messages. The Blackberry Curve is still one of the larger mobile phones in overall size compared to the simple smaller packages of the newer mobile phones today.
The Blackberry Curve is one of the latest Blackberry with a trackball located in the center of the phone. We found that the trackball can be is great to help you navigate through your menu selections. This is by far the better way to navigate compared to the older models. The trackball is as easy as using a mouse.
The Blackberry Curve features a 2.0 megapixel camera so you can take a wonderful picture every time. You can also play videos and music from your Blackberry Curve. This feature is built into the mobile phone allowing you to access your music and videos whenever you can.
One of the best features of the Blackberry Curve is the keyboard. Most consumers purchase the Blackberry Curve because it is ideal for messaging and typing with ease. The keypad featured on the Blackberry Curve is large enough to see and type without accidentally hitting other buttons while sending a text. Although the keyboard is protected by a plastic cover they can still withstand the constant typing and pressing of the keys.
The processor built into the Blackberry Curve is a 312 MHz Intel processor. This is the same type of processor that is found in other Blackberry. Keep in mind that this 312 MHz may not sound like a lot but in a small device, such as a mobile phone, it is enough. So you shouldn’t have anything to worry about when uploading and downloading.
The screen is 320 x 240 pixel in LCD. The size of the screen is 2.4 inches. This large screen is great for watching your videos and viewing photos from your photo album. You can also read files and enjoy text messaging because you are able to see it.
Memory is no problem for the Blackberry Curve. With a 64 MB of flash memory built in you will be able to store without worries. Although it may be a hassle, you can find the memory card slot by removing the battery. Use a memory card to store ample songs, videos, photos, and more.
We like music, do you? If you like your music on the go you can use your Blackberry Curve as a digital portable player. The Blackberry Curve includes a built in speaker so you can listen to your music anytime you want. When purchasing a Blackberry Curve, a set of earphones are included in the package for quiet listening.
Over all the Blackberry Curve is an excellent choice for anyone who may be in business for themselves or anyone who works. It may not be so convenient for the younger generation as it doesn’t have everything easily accessible that a teen would want.

Blackberry video conversion, how to make best settings and convert step by step

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

I have got a Blackberry Storm as my birthday present and I was deeply in love with the gorgeous screen. I can’t wait to fill the 8gb card with videos to show off to all my friends. Before that I have tried watching a movie on my blackberry that I had already ripped with iPhone/iPod touch settings, The video works but the file size is unnecessarily large and the audio didn’t match up with the video well when playing on the Blackberry. I collect information here and there and at last get the problem solves. So below is the details shared here.

Output video format: mp4Output audio format: mp3

Video:Video Size/resolution: 480x320Video Bitrate: 1200kbps

Audio:Audio Bitrate: 64kbps Channels: 2 channels

Now if you have no idea what to do with that, then here are some simple instructions for you.

First you need a third-part software. I use Nidesoft program, probably the best Blackberry converter available. I download from its official website: Nidesoft. Note: the program you downloaded on nidesoft is free trial version, you are limited to creating video files that are a maximum of 2 minutes long.In order to convert videos longer than that, you will need to purchase the software with 25 dollars, or download the full version somewhere on

Then if you convert videos from DVD, you should use Nidesoft DVD to Blackberry Converter and follow the step-by-step ways.Step 1: Launch the program; Insert the DVD disc into the DVD Drive. Click the “Open DVD” button, browse your computer, find the DVD folder of the movie, open it, select some titles and chapters you want or you may select the whole video to convert.Step 2: make settings: click “profile” drop-down list to select “BlackBerry MPEG-4 Video (*.mp4)” format, click “Settings” to set video size and bitrate. If you want to combine two or several titles into one, you may select titles and click blank box before “Merge into one file” to merge them together.Step 3: click “convert” button to convert videos. Then it will be completed in few minutes.

However, if you convert from other videos, you should use Nidesoft Blackberry video converter with the following ways.Step 1: Launch the program and Click “Add” button to load source video files to be converted: Step 2: make settings: click “format” drop list to select “Blackberry MPEG-4 Video (*.mp4)” as output video format. Set your video size and quality under the preview window.

Step 3:  Click “Convert” button to start to convert video format. After the file is converted, just transfer the file to the videos folder on your BlackBerry through the Desktop Manager and enjoy your newly created video. By the way, the file converted can not only used on Blackberry Storm, but also other Blackberry phones such as Blackberry Pearl, Bold, curve.

Ok, until now you have got the whole idea of how to do with it. But you may encounter some other problems when doing it. Below are my problems and solutions I have collected after long time practice, list here to share with you.

I think there’s a virus in this Program!!??There’s no virus in Nidesoft. One person reported being infected by Backdoor.Graybird, but if you got it from the site I linked to in my post it did not come with the download. If you downloaded it from somewhere else on the web then I am not sure. Probably malware/spamers have uploaded it to phishing sites to snag people. Always make sure you download things from their original website, or from a trusted location like download.com, and always run antivirus and scan stuff you are installing. The higher the resolution, the better the video quality? Not necessarily at all. If you’re converting a video that is 640×480 and convert it to the same 640×480 resolution then all you’re leaving is more work for your phone. I understand the login behind it, the pixels get compressed and shop up more clear and sharper. But if you compress these pixels in the conversion process wouldn’t the same thing happen? So why not just convert straight to a 480×320 and save your Storm the trouble?

The higher the bitrate, the better the quality?Yes, that is true. However, the higher the bitrate, the larger your video files. So it is not necessary to raise your bitrate very high when you feel your video quality is fine. I have spent hours working different settings and the best results have hovered around 1200 kbps.

Where do I find the files?                                                                                            You may change the output directory by press “browse” button, or the destination will be set automatically at C:\temp, you may press “open” to find the files.

Can I get ringtones into my Blackberry with the above idea?Yes, you can. You may get ringtones in that way both from DVD and video. But you need to make a little different settings. As Blackberry audio support .mp3 format, you need to select “Blackberry MP3 Music (*.mp3)” as the output file format. Then drag the converted file into ringtones folder in your memory card.

I’m trying to convert a movie purchased from itunes but the Nidesoft software gives me an error. When I view the details of the error it tells me not enough space on my drive. I have plenty of space. Now when I tried it with a movie (same extension .m4v) that was ripped in the past, it works. Any suggestions??Meet DRM.Itunes store video files are encoded with fairplay digital rights management that means they will only play on Itunes, Ipod, or AppleTV. I have found another thread to solve this problem, go to: http://forums.crackberry.com/f135/howto-put-drm-protected-files-your-storm-pics-118585/

Why are there black bars on my video?Even though it looks “widescreen” the storm is native 4:3 not 16:9. So unless you want to stretch everybody and make them tall and skinny you will still have the black bars.

Is there a way to make it fullscreen without the black bars?Yes, you can crop the file when you do the transcode, but I haven’t done it with Nidesoft Blackberry video converter yet. I’ll post it when I figure it out.

Ok, that is my details and I would keep updating my thread when got more solutions.

Blackberry Bold or Nokia E71 – which one is better?

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

Released within a month of each other, the Blackberry 9000, better known as the Blackberry Bold (May 2008) and the Nokia E71 (June 2008) are obvious rival smartphones from these perennial rival smartphone makers as they look, feel, and function very much alike. Both devices are just about equally sized, at 114 mm x 66 mm x 14 mm for the Blackberry and 114 mm x 57 mm x 10 mm for the Nokia. And both weigh just about the same with the Blackberry weighing in at 133 g to a slightly lighter Nokia’s 127 g.Both devices have a QWERTY keypad occupying the bottom half of the face of the device with a small display screen (2.6 in on the Blackberry, 2.36 in on the Nokia) above it. Interestingly, the display screens on each device possess a quality superior to that of their counterpart. The Blackberry has better resolution, at 480 x 320 pixels to its competitor’s 320 x 240 pixels; but the Nokia has more colors, at 16 million to its competitors meager 65,000.Then, for a matter of simple preference, the Blackberry Bold’s primary navigation is a trackball whereas the Nokia E71 uses a 5-way scroll key. Also a simple matter of preference, the Blackberry runs on the Blackberry OS, the Nokia on the Symbian OS.Other similarities amongst these two candybar competitors are their built-in GPS with mapping capabilities (the Bold using Blackberry Maps, the E71 using Nokia Maps – each coming preinstalled), as well as voice dialing, photo calling, video calling, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP, and speakerphone. They also both operate on AT&T’s EDGE network and support HSDPA and 3G.Also, both devices sport microSD card slots for expandable memory up to 8 GB, though the Blackberry has more more internal memory, at 1 GB to the Nokia’s 110 MB (both devices have 128 MB onboard RAM though). And both devices have a USB v2.0 port, though the Nokia also has a microUSB port.In terms of multimedia features they each have built in digital cameras, but the Blackberry Bold’s is only 2 megapixels while the Nokia E71′s is 3 megapixels. Both cameras, however, have LED flash and video recording capabilities. Both devices also have a built-in MP3 player. Also worth noting, along these same lines, is that unlike the Blackberry (or most smartphones, for that matter) the Nokia does not have a standard 3.5 mm headphone jack but rather a 2.5 mm audio jack, making headphone and speaker compatibility a bigger issue with the Nokia. The Nokia, however, has an infrared port while the Blackberry does not.You can view Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents on both devices, but you can only edit them on the Blackberry. The battery on the Bold gives up to 5 hours of talk time and 310 hours of standby time. The battery on the Nokia gives up to 10 1/2 hours of talk time in 2G or 4 1/2 hours in 3G, and 410 hours of standby time in 2G or 480 hours in 3G.Deciding between these two devices is a tough call, and may come down to extraneous features such as the availability of preferred 3rd party apps. Or you may just prefer the Blackberry operating system to Symbian. You may also lean towards the Blackberry Bold if you want to be able to edit Microsoft Office docs, though you might lean towards the Nokia E71 if you’d rather take crisper digital photos. Really these two devices are quite comparable.

Blackberry Pearl

Monday, June 28th, 2010

There are so many variants of pearls originating from the world’s
countless oceans and lakes. They differ in luster and colors. It depends on
the type of oysters they grew in. Pearls can also take on a wide
variety of appearance, thus no two pearls are exactly the same.
Pearls are hard, rounded objects produced by mollusks and oysters. Over
time, pearls have been turned into jewelries and also crushed and
formed into cosmetics. Pearls are also valuable gemstones.
Formed inside shells of bivalve mollusks, the layer that is deposited
inside forms layers known as nacre. Now when these small particles form
altogether, a pearl is produced.
Pearls are known for their luster. The luster of the pearl depends on
the reflection and refraction of light. The finer the proportion of the
layers is, then the thinner and more numerous the light is.
Blackberry pearls are grown from black lipped oysters. They still come
in many colors, despite what its name denotes. Their colors vary from
specks of silver to a monochromatic black.
An example of a popular blackberry pearl is the ‘peacock green’ pearl
that has a magnificent luster and green tinge added to its black
coloring.
Blackberry pearls are attractive because of its radiance. It is
extremely valuable because of its rarity.
Most blackberry pearls come from the blue lagoons of Polyneisa. Now,
blackberry pearls are hundred times more rare than white pearls, thus
making blackberry pearls really valuable.
Aside from the color green mentioned earlier, blackberry pearls also
come in a variety of colors like emerald green, sea green, peach-copper,
pink, pale silver blue, melon, bordeaux, indigo, cranberry and
aubergine. Usually ranging from dark green to deep black, blackberry pears are
iridescent and constantly shimmering. They are very exotic.
Thus jewelry necklaces, earrings, bracelets made from blackberry
pears are indeed a fine gem. They represent love and romance.
How do you then determine the value of a blackberry pearl? There are so
many factors:
1. Luster
When you’re selecting a blackberry pearl, always check the luster. The
luster refers to the reflective surface giving off a shiny mirror-like
quality. The better the luster, the higher the quality of the
blackberry pearl. The luster denotes the thick layering of the nacre or the
pearl material. If there is a fine luster, it means that the pearl has been
inside the oyster for a long period of time. The thicker the nacre, the
more valuable the blackberry pearl.
2. Size
In evaluating black pearls, size is a very important criteria. The
Black Lipped Oysters, where a majority of Blackberry pearls are obtained,
are one of the largest in the world, so it is expected that the pearls
are of more-than-average size. The usual size is 8-10.5 mm or there are
some cases wherein it is 11-14 mm. The size of the pearl is determined
by the size of the nacreous layer that surrounded it when it was still
in the oyster. The largest Blackberry Pearl seen so far was 23mm
that’s the size of a small bird egg! Imagine how precious that pearl is!
3. Shape
Blackberry pearls come in a variety of natural shapes. It ranges from
mushroom, acorn, barrel, pear-shaped, tear-drop, button and baroque
shapes. All these shapes are marketable because they accommodate the demand
of the public. But the rounder the pearls are, the more valuable. That
is because it is so hard for oysters to create the perfect spherical
shape.
4. Orient
The orient is the heart and soul of the pearl. The orient is the
penetrating light on the pearl’s surface that gives depth of color and light.
This can be observed by looking through the lustrous surface and the
many layers of the nacre or pearl material. The layer reflects the light,
thus creating an illuminating glow in the pearl. The best way to see
the orient is to hold the pearl in front of a neutral background. Let the
light shine into the pearl. The eye will be able to see through the
surface color.
5. Color
Blackberry Pearls often come in rainbow-like or beautiful natural
color. Each color is special. In selecting color, one must determine which
looks best on the wearer. The color comes more alive when it suits the
skin tone and complexion.
6. Surface
The outer surface of the pearl is checked for smoothness and
perfection. The less visible scratch, the better. Each pearl has tiny “surface
marks” adding character to the pearl. These marks are like that of
birthmarks to human beings. However, the less surface mark, the better.
It is because of the blackberry pearl’s value that a mobile phone was
named right after it.

Blackberry the King of Business Mobile Phones – About to be Dethroned?

Saturday, June 26th, 2010

Research in Motion Ltd (RIM) has been so successful with their Blackberry phone that many people now more readily associate the term “Blackberry” with their phone more so than with the original fruit!

Yes indeed, Blackberry has truly dominated the Business market when it comes to mobile phones and mobile email. Their Hosted mail solutions enabling “Email on the Go” has definitely revolutionised Business Communications and increased productivity levels where companies have implemented their solution.

However the playing field is changing and RIM and they may not have it all their own way for much longer. Juggernaut Microsoft Corp. is going to make a major push on the software side of mobile e-mail and lots of new devices are due to hit the Business Market.

The Treo from Palm Inc (who are BlackBerry’s biggest hardware competitor) are due to launch an newly updated Treo. The new phone will run on Microsoft software. Also both Nokia & Motorola, the world’s two biggest makers of mobile phones have Blackberry clones in the pipeline. Hewlett-Packard also has a iPaq mobile device that launched last Autumn.

This army of competitors couldn’t have come at a worse time for RIM as they are currently locked in a legal battle with a company called NTP Inc. over patents. And this legal battle has even threatened to shut down the BlackBerry e-mail system in the USA. However unlikely the court-ordered shutdown is, it has definitely shaken Business users faith in Blackberry and created opportunities for RIM’s competitors. Good Technology, who are probably RIM’s biggest competitor on the lucrative software side of the business, has fielded more than a 100 calls from anxious BlackBerry customers recently.

Motorola’s Q and Nokia’s E61 both launch this summer and both devices feature QWERTY keyboards and are aimed as being direct competitors to the BlackBerry phone and who’s marketing will target Blackberry users. With all this competition going on though, RIM has been busy making plans and has licensed its system to other phone manufactures, including Motorola. The first non-BlackBerry device in the USA using RIM’s network, was the Nokia 9300,which launched in November 2007. For the most part, RIM’s devices are sold to Businesses who in turn section them out to their staff. Employees can then access all of their work e-mail from the road by using their Blackberry’s. Third party software solutions running on RIM’s Blackberry platform allow a host of useful Business applications. Things like GPS and hand held Satellite Navigation are great for those on the road or in the Transportation Business. Lawyers and Doctors can make use of the turn key Time Recording and Billing Solutions. Sales people can do PowerPoint presentations from their phones instead of lugging bulky laptops around. “Blackberry was the first to market with a turnkey solution,” says Richard Scott of BusinessMobiles.com a Business Solutions expert in the UK…. “It’s kind of a one-stop shop.”

“Whatever Business you’re in there’s definitely a software application that will save you time and money on the Blackberry Platform” BusinessMobiles.com is the UK’s largest independent mobile solutions provider. “The company’s ability to offer a complete device, software and hosted service package has been important to its success” Mr. Scott says.”The whole user experience is kind of seamless.” Much as the iPod dominates the music market in MP3 players Blackberry dominates the marketplace in Business Communication tools.. Analysts estimate that RIM has 70 percent to 80 percent of the mobile e-mail market but with all that competition coming who know for how long??

If you think your Business would benefit from all the Benefits of Blackberry – with features like Email on the Go, Sat Nav, Remote Database Access and/or a whole host of other features – then contact BusinessMobiles.com today where we are currently offering YOU a 30 day Free Blackberry Trial.
